Our Dreaming

For Talbragar Wiradjuri Aboriginal Corporation (TWAC), our Dreaming began with Uncle Lewis Burns and a vision to create a place where culture could be shared, learned, celebrated and passed on to future generations.

When TWAC was incorporated in 2016, our purpose was clear: to establish a culturally safe learning and sharing space grounded in Wiradjuri knowledge, values and responsibility. Alongside founding members Aunty Pam Wells and Arna Kerklaan, Our members helped bring this vision to life.

From these beginnings, a traditional dance group was born. Through song, dance, storytelling and movement, our performers began sharing culture across Dubbo and surrounding communities, creating opportunities for learning, connection and understanding.

Our Cultural Leaders, have guided and nurtured our members by sharing the richness of Wiradjuri culture and teaching the responsibilities that come with cultural custodianship. Their leadership continues to strengthen our connection to Country, community and identity.

Over time, TWAC has grown into a trusted, grassroots Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation dedicated to helping our community thrive. While we continue to uphold important cultural protocols such as Welcome to Country and cultural performances, our work now extends far beyond these services.

Today, we deliver a range of cultural immersion, education and community development programs designed to strengthen cultural identity, wellbeing and belonging. At the heart of everything we do is a commitment to our children and young people, ensuring they grow strong in culture, connected to community and proud of who they are.

Our dream continues to grow through every story shared, every young person empowered, and every connection strengthened through culture.
